Vietnam logs additional 246 domestic COVID-19 cases

Vietnam logged 264 new COVID-19 infections in the afternoon of July 1, including 246 domestic and 18 imported cases, reported the Ministry of Health.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam logged 264 new COVID-19 infections in the afternoon of July 1, including 246 domestic and 18 imported cases, reported the Ministry of Health.

Most of the domestic cases were detected in Ho Chi Minh City (152) and the remainders were found in its neighbouring province of Binh Duong (42), Tien Giang (22), Quang Ngai (9), Phu Yen (8), An Giang (5), Da Nang (3), Ha Tinh (2), Bac Ninh (2) and Bac Giang (1).

The new infections brought the total number of cases logged on July 1 to 713, including 20 imported and 693 locally-transmitted. They comprised 464 cases in Ho Chi Minh City, 90 in Binh Duong, 38 in Tien Giang, 28 in Long An, 26 in Phu Yen, 11 in Hung Yen, 9 in Quang Ngai, 5 in Bac Giang, 5 in Ha Tinh, 5 in An Giang, 3 in Nghe An, 3 in Bac Ninh, 3 in Da Nang, each one in Vinh Long, Binh Phuoc and Dong Thap.

As of 6pm on July 1, Vietnam recorded a total of 15,758 domestic and 1,818 imported cases. Since April 27 when the fourth wave of outbreaks hit the country, the number of domestic cases amounted to 14,188, of whom 4,473 have recovered from the disease.

Fourteen provinces and cities have gone through 14 consecutive days without new cases in the community, namely Yen Bai, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Tuyen Quang, Son La, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Thai Nguyen, Bac Lieu, Dien Bien, Vinh Phuc, Hai Duong, Phu Tho and Ha Nam.

Vietnam has so far recorded 7,247 recovered patients and 81 deaths related to the disease.

Among patients under treatment, 260 tested negative to coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 once, 138 twice and 89 thrice.

To contain the pandemic in the “new normal” situation, the Health Ministry called on all Vietnamese citizens to follow 5K message, including khau trang (facemask), khu khuan (disinfection), khoang cach (distance), khong tu tap (no gathering), and khai bao y te (health declaration).

As of 5pm on July 1, the national COVID-19 vaccine fund had received over 7,986 billion VND (347.2 million USD), which were donated by 356,715 collectives and individuals./.
