Vietnam maintain lead in U15 competition

Vietnam drew 1-1 with Indonesia in the second round match of the four-side International U15 Football Tournament on June 16 in the central city of Da Nang.

Da Nang (VNA) - Vietnam drew 1-1 with Indonesia in the second round match ofthe four-side International U15 Football Tournament on June 16 in the centralcity of Da Nang.

The visiting side opened the score in the 23rd minute through captain RendyJuliansyah from a close shot.

VietnameseNguyen Quoc Hoang levelled the result 30 minutes later. It was his fourth goalin the tournament and it made him the current top scorer.

Vietnam areon top of the ranking with four points. Indonesia are second with the samepoints but a worse goal difference.

In thelater match on the same day, Myanmar tied Chinese Taipei 2-2.

Vietnam willmeet Myanmar in the last round match while Indonesia will play Chinese Taipeion June 18.

“Indonesiahave shown they are a strong team with good physique and technique. Theycreated a lot of difficulties for Vietnam in this match. My defenders did notfocus and they failed to stop the Indonesian midfielders from providing ballsto the front line. My forwards performed poorly, missing their threateningchances,” coach Vu Hong Viet of Vietnam said.

 “The1-1 result reflects exactly what happened today. We will work harder in thelast match for the top position,” he said.

Meanwhilecoach Fakhri Husaini said it was a good game for Indonesia although someopportunities were not converted into goals.

He alsohoped for a positive result against Chinese Taipei on June 18.-VNA
