Minister of Public Security General Tran Dai Quang and visiting Malaysian Minister of Home Affairs Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, held a working session in Hanoi on May 14.
They reviewed the connection between the two ministries and agreed on future directions of their work.
The two ministers agreed to continue enhancing collaboration in security and police work and alternately organising annual deputy-ministerial level meetings between the two sides.
They will also start working on agreements on extradition and the transfer of sentenced persons.
In addition, the signing of an MoU on cooperation to prevent transnational crimes between the two governments is expected to be completed later this year, creating a legal basis for both sides to work together.
Minister Quang highly valued the visit to Vietnam by the Malaysian high-ranking delegation and described it as an important milestone in cooperation between the Malaysian Ministry of Public Security and Vietnamese concerned agencies, contributing to deepening the friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries.
He said he wishes for the further development of the two ministries’ affiliation, thus ensuring national security, maintaining social order and safety in each country for peace, stability and development in the region and the world at large.
Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi praised Vietnam’s achievements in politics, economics and culture as well as the outcomes of cooperation between the two ministries in recent years.
He said he wishes that the bilateral ties will unceasingly develop in the coming time, contributing to strengthening the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries.-VNA
