Hanoi (VNA) - Over the course of its 76 years, the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reporters and editors have immersed themselves in every change of the nation. Generations of journalists have been present in the fiercest battlefields, important political events as well as hotspots of diseases and natural disasters, thereby contributing to keeping news flowing.
Joining the national protection, construction and development causes is a vivid illustration for the VNA staff’s responsibility for the Party and State. They feel a glow of pride when providing the flow of mainstream news for the public.
As a leading multi-media agency in Vietnam, the VNA has kept both domestic and foreign readers updated with the country’s important political – diplomatic events via new forms of media.
All of the nation’s significant events have been covered by the VNA, including the 13th National Party Congress in February 2021 and the organisation of the Party congresses at all levels towards the event in 2020.
Particularly, the VNA gave an insight into how Vietnam successfully fulfilled its ASEAN 2020 Chairmanship amid formidable challenges caused by the global and regional situations, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic, and left lasting impressions on foreign friends.
Besides political and diplomatic events, the COVID-19 outbreak, flooding and drought across the nation have received full coverage of the agency.
Since the COVID-19 ravaged the whole world in March 2020, VNA reporters, with their enthusiasm and devotion, have been present at hotspots, making contributions to popularising the Party, State, Government and people’s efforts in realising the “dual goals” of effective pandemic prevention and economic recovery.
Together with other frontline forces in the COVID-19 battle, VNA reporters have been vanguards in the media front. Regardless of grave dangers, they have come to the epicentres to deliver latest news to the readers, helping the flow of mainstream news never cease.
“Many VNA reporters have volunteered to cover news at COVID-19 hotspots in Vietnam and foreign countries. They have overcome psychological barriers to write inspiring stories with a hope that one day, the pandemic will be completely controlled and people will soon return to normal life”, said VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang.
From a small group of communications officials and patriotic intellectuals at the information department under the communications ministry of the then Provisional Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, the VNA today boasts more than 2,200 staff members, including cadres, reporters, editors, technicians and other staff members, and has a presence in Vietnam’s all 63 cities and provinces and 30 countries and territories on all five continents. It is currently a partner of more than 40 news and press agencies around the world./.
