Vietnam opens honorary consulate in Naples city of Italy

The second Honorary Consulate of Vietnam in Italy was opened in Naples city of the Campania region on November 18.

Rome (VNA) – Thesecond Honorary Consulate of Vietnam in Italy wasopened in Naples city of the Campania region on November 18.

Addressing theopening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Nguyen Thi Bich Hue underlinedthat the unceasingly enhanced political relations between the two countrieshave strongly promoted cooperation in trade, culture, education, science -technology, security - defence, climate change response, and locality-to-localityties.

Vietnam iscurrently the largest trade partner of Italy in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), while Italy ranks thirdamong EU trade partners of the Southeast Asian nation, with annual bilateral tradestanding at around 5 billion USD.

Aside frombilateral consultations, the two sides have signed and implemented a number ofjoint projects in various areas, she said, adding that the practical and timelymutual assistance in the COVID-19 fight is a demonstration of their sustainableand sincere friendship.

The HonoraryConsulate in Naples will help Campania friends and businesses to understandmore about Vietnam and support Vietnamese citizens living in the region, thuscontributing to bilateral connections, Hue said.

At theceremony, officials of Campania and Naples highlighted the huge potential forthe Italian region’s cooperation with Vietnamese localities and enterprises.

Deputy Mayorof Naples Maria Filippone voiced her hope that the consulate will help connect the city with Vietnamese partners, thus reinforcing and expanding the networkof international partners of Naples and Campania.

Expressing hishonour to become the Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Naples, Silvio Vecchionepledged to fulfill his duty to introduce the country to local people, boost economic,trade, cultural, and people-to-people exchange, and assist Vietnamese peopleliving in the Campania region and Italy as a whole.

Vietnam, China sign 32 cooperation documents

The documents include a cooperation plan between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) for the 2026–2030 period; a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Organisation Commission of the CPV Central Committee and its Chinese counterpart; and a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee.
