Vietnam opposes Taiwan’s drill in Truong Sa archipelago

Hanoi(VNA) – Vietnam resolutely opposes Taiwan deploying a drill on November 28 inBa Binh area belonging to Vietnam’s Truong Sa archipelago, said Spokespersonfor the Foreign Ministry Le Hai Binh.

He made the statement on November 29 in reply to a reporter’s query on Vietnam’sreaction to the Taiwanese side organising a drill at sea in the Ba Binh area inVietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago.

“Vietnam has fullhistorical evidence and legal grounds to prove its sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel)and Truong Sa archipelagoes,” Binh said.

Taiwan’s organisation of the drill in Ba Binh area in Vietnam’s Truong Saarchipelago is a serious violation of Vietnam’s territorial sovereignty overthe archipelago, threatening peace, stability, security, navigation safety,sparking tensions, and complicating the situation in the East Sea, thespokesperson added.

“Vietnam resolutely protests and demands Taiwan not to repeat similaractivities,” Binh concluded.-VNA
