Vietnam earns over 1.5 billion USD from pepper exports in 11 months

The US remained Vietnam’s largest export market, accounting for 21.7% with 48,849 tonnes, despite a 28% decline. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with 19,930 tonnes, China with 17,744 tonnes, India with 11,750 tonnes and Germany with 10,876 tonnes.

Pepper exports maintains over 25% growth

According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), the country exported 19,430 tonnes of pepper in October, including 16,464 tonnes of black and 2,966 tonnes of white pepper, with a total value of 129.5 million USD.

Vietnam – Germany forum spotlights sustainable produce, spice trade

VPSA Chairwoman Hoang Thi Lien said agricultural products of Vietnam, including spices, often transit Germany and the Netherlands before reaching other European destinations, adding that with the EVFTA in place, Vietnamese exporters enjoy greater access and competitive advantages.

Vietnam’s pepper exports surpass 1 billion USD in first eight months

From January to August, Vietnam exported 166,510 tonnes of pepper of all types, including 142,627 tonnes of black pepper and 23,883 tonnes of white pepper. Despite a 9.4% decline in export volume from a year earlier, revenue rose 28% to over 1.12 billion USD, thanks to higher prices.

Vietnam sees opportunities to boost spice exports

In the first seven months of 2025, Vietnam exported 145,046 tonnes of pepper worth 988 million USD. While export volume dropped 11.7% compared to the same period in 2024, value surged 29.3% thanks to higher average prices. Black pepper fetched 6,713 USD per tonne, up 47%, while white pepper reached 8,756 USD per tonne, up 41.2% year-on-year.

Pepper exporters responding to new US tariff policy

Vietnam exported 20,244 tonnes of various types of pepper in March, earning 141.6 million USD. The figures represented increases of 41.3% in volume, and 45.6% in value month-on-month, and a decrease of 21.2% in volume and a rise of 27.9% in value year-on-year.
