The Cuban Ministry of Interior hosted a ceremony in Havana on August 17 to celebrate the 70 th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam People’s Police Force (August 19).
In his speech, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Duong Minh reflected on the history of the Vietnam People’s Police Force and its 70 years of achievements in safeguarding national independence, sovereignty, security; cracking down on corruption, smuggling, economic and criminal offences; and search and rescue efforts in disaster-hit areas.
He thanked the Party, State and people of Cuba, including the Cuban Interior Ministry, for their dedicated support to Vietnam’s anti-US war and the current national development and believed that the fraternal ties between the two countries would reach a new height for the benefit of the two peoples.
Major General Jose Luis Mesa Delgado, who worked to link the two public security ministries, reviewed key milestones in the relationship between the Cuban Interior Ministry and the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security.
He thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security for its assistance to the Cuban Interior Ministry given the current economic difficulties in Cuba.
The host stated confidently that the solidarity and friendship between the two peoples, including the two ministries, will grow increasingly strong.
Participants at the event were treated to a documentary screening on historic milestones in Vietnam – Cuba ties and music performances.-VNA
