Vietnam considers training, science and technology top priorities in cooperative relations with Russia , said Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan.

Nhan made the statement while receiving the Permanent Deputy Minister of the Russian Ministry of Education and Sciences, Yury Sentyurin, in the capital city of Hanoi on June 22.

The deputy PM said he hoped that the Russian Ministry of Education and Sciences would join hands with Vietnam to speed up the establishment of international-standard Le Quy Don University .

He spoke highly of scientific achievements that Russia has reaped recently, saying that its successes in academic and applied sciences had left deep impressions on Vietnamese scientists.

Sentyurin applauded Vietnam ’s plan to set up the Le Quy Don University , stressing that Russia ’s major technology universities are willing to participate in the project by sending experts to Vietnam .

The deputy minister said his ministry would help Vietnam train more officials and increase long-term scholarships for Vietnamese students.

The ministry would also support the building of an electronic library system that will connect universities in Vietnam , he added./.
