With five golds, four silver and nine bronzes, Vietnam ranked fourth at the Thailand Open Karate-do Championship which wrapped up in Bangkok, Thailand.
Indonesia took the lead with 14 golds, six silvers and 17 bronzes.
Thailand were second with 12 golds, 16 silvers and 35 bronzes.
The third place belonged to Kazakhstan with seven golds, seven silvers and 11 bronzes.
Vietnam's golds went to Nguyen Ngoc Tram in the girls' U14 kata (performance), Le Thi Thu Thao in the women's under 50kg kumite (fighting), Do Ha Mi in the women's kata, Tran Thi Khanh Vy in the women's 50kg kumite and Nguyen Thi Hong Anh in the women's over 68kg kumite.
The five-day event drew 930 martial artists from 32 nations and territories.
The championship was organised by the Thailand Karate Federation in conjunction with the Sports Authority of Thailand and the Asian Karate-do Federation.-VNA
National karate tournament opens in Can Tho
As many as 490 athletes from 40 provinces and cities across the country are participating in the 19th National Youth Karate Championships, which kicked off in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on July 30.
