Vietnam reports no community transmission of COVID-19 for 27 days

Vietnam entered the 27th consecutive day without any new COVID-19 infection in the community as of 6am on September 29, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam entered the 27th consecutive day withoutany new COVID-19 infection in the community as of 6am on September 29,according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention andControl.

The country has documented 1,077 SARS-CoV-2 infections so far. Of the total,691 were locally-transmitted cases, including 551 linked with Da Nang citysince the latest coronavirus wave hit the locality on July 25.

As many as 999 patients have recovered while the fatalities remain at 35. Mostof the fatalities were elderly with serious underlying health conditions.

Among the patients still under treatment, two have tested negative for thevirus once, four twice and 13 thrice.

There are 15,897 people having close contact with confirmed cases or comingfrom the pandemic-hit regions under quarantine at present.

As the COVID-19 pandemic can return at any time, the Ministry of Healthrecommended people wear face masks in crowded places, and wash hands with soapor hand sanitiser regularly.

Vietnamese scientists unlock genetic insights into rare diseases

All People’s Health Day promotes early disease prevention

Free cancer screening, health checks to benefit 10,000 people in Hanoi

Participants will receive comprehensive health checks through a streamlined one-stop process, including blood pressure measurement, height and weight assessment, BMI and cardiovascular risk evaluation, blood tests, general examinations and specialist consultations in internal medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics, ophthalmology, ENT, dentistry and oncology. Rapid blood glucose testing and biochemical screening will also be conducted to detect diabetes and metabolic disorders.

Over 25,000 hand, foot and mouth disease cases posted in 3 months

In the first three months, more than 25,000 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease have been recorded nationwide. Of the total cases, around 18,000, or nearly 72%, were concentrated in southern provinces. The disease has primarily affected children aged between one and five.

AI boosts early detection of non-communicable diseases

Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Lien Huong said NCDs pose a growing global challenge, accounting for over 70% of deaths worldwide, mainly from cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes and chronic respiratory diseases.
