Vietnam, RoK enhance energy cooperation

HCM City (VNA) – Vietnam and the Republic ofKorea (RoK) boast huge potential cooperation in energy development, especiallyclean energy, said a RoK expert.

Yeo Sungku, Director of the Energy Valley EnterpriseDevelopment Institute (EVEDI), madethe statement at a Vietnam-RoK investment forum held by the Vietnam Chamber ofCommerce and Industry’s Ho Chi Minh City Branch (VCCI-HCM) on July 17.

He said that RoK’s energy industry possesses strengthsin clean energy production and high-quality technologies while Vietnam’s demandfor energy is high and will be on the rise.

Therefore, boosting cooperation between Vietnam andRoK enterprises in the field will help create an energy supply-demand chain toserve the development of both countries, he added.

Talking about advantages of RoK energy firms, Directorof BA Energy Company Choi Jiwon said RoK businesses have not only paid attentionto producing energy but also seeking solutions to maximise energy saving.

Developing technologies, materials and equipment usingnatural and renewable power for sustainable development is a priority of RoKfirms in their cooperation plans with Vietnamese counterparts, he noted.

VCCI-HCM Director Vo Tan Thanh said Vietnam is lookingfor solutions for energy efficiency and environmentally-friendly energy, whichare advantages of RoK companies, to ensure sufficient supply and environmentalprotection.

Vietnam and RoK have jointly launched cooperationprogrammes in thermoelectricity, renewable energy, nuclear energy and energysaving in recent years, he said.

Strengthening partnership between Vietnamese and RoKenterprises will contribute to lifting up value and sustainability of their tradeand economic ties, Thanh added.-VNA
