The armed forces and people of Vietnam have always attached importance to the traditional friendship and cooperation with the Russian counterparts over the past years, a senior defence official has said.
Deputy Defence Minister Sen. Lieut. Gen. Truong Quang Khanh made the remark at a reception for visiting Guzenco Oleg Borisovich, Acting Chairman of the Military Science Committee of the Armed Forces of Russian Federation in Hanoi on May 22.
Khanh further said that bilateral cooperation in the areas of tropical endurance, tropical ecology and tropical biomedicine has reaped effective results via the Coordination Committee of the Russia-Vietnam Tropical Centre, making significant contributions to fostering the friendship and cooperation between the two peoples and armies.
He said he believes that the visit will help broaden scientific research cooperation in various fields, thus realising agreements signed by the two countries’ high-ranking leaders.
For his part, the Russian guest applauded scientific research findings resulted from cooperation between the Russia-Vietnam Tropical Centre and the Russian Academy of Sciences as well as other institutes of the Russian Ministry of Defence.
He said his visit offers a good opportunity for both sides to review cooperation results over the past time and put forth orientations for future cooperation in new realms of staff training, health care for soldiers and maintenance of weapons.-VNA
