A delegation from the permanent office of the State Steering Committee on the National Mine Action Plan (also known as the Steering Committee 504) wrapped up a week-long working visit to Australia on April 12.
The delegation was led by Deputy Defence Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh, who also works as head of the office.
During the visit, the Vietnamese delegates met with the Australian authorities to seek assistance and cooperation in dealing with the consequences of unexploded ordnance (UXO) left over from the wars.
Deputy Defence Minister Vinh informed his hosts of the bomb and mine pollution in Vietnam and the Government’s effort to overcome its aftermaths.
The delegation also toured several training and research units to boost cooperation in this field.-VNA
