Vietnam seeks Laos’ closer coordination in volunteer remains search

– Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Director of theGeneral Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army expressed his hopefor receiving sounder collaboration in the search and repatriation of theremains of the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who died in Laos during war time.

Nghia delivered hiswish at a meeting with Senior Lieutenant General Vilay Lakhamphong, Secretaryof the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and Directorof the General Department of Politics of the Laos People’s Army in Vientiane onMarch 20 during his working visit to the country.

General Vilay affirmed that the relations between the Parties, State and armiesof Laos and Vietnam are the rare solidarity and friendship in the world.

In 2017, Laoslaunched over 100 activities to mark the 40th anniversary of thesigning of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty and the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties with Vietnam, he said.

The campaign on thecreation of literature and arts works among Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam wasamong the activities, he noted.

The general expressed his hope that the General Department of Politics of thetwo armies will take more diverse and practical activities in education-training,culture, and arts and conduct more visit exchanges in 2018, the year that marksthe 70th founding anniversary of the Laos People’s Army.

For his part, general Nghia wished that the General Department of Politics ofthe two armies will step up cooperation in various realms, such as personneltraining, and the sharing of experience in Party and grassroots politicalsystem building work.

He noted that army newspapersin Vietnam will increase publications popularizing the 70th foundinganniversary of the Lao People’s Army, including a special column in Laolanguage of the Quan Doi Nhan Dan (People’s Army) newspaper.-VNA

Vietnam, China sign 32 cooperation documents

The documents include a cooperation plan between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) for the 2026–2030 period; a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Organisation Commission of the CPV Central Committee and its Chinese counterpart; and a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee.
