The working session between the Vietnamese delegation (L) aand educational officials of Wales, the UK (Source: VNA) London (VNA) - As many as 30 memorandums of understanding on education andtraining cooperation were signed between educational institutions and enterprisesof Vietnam and the UK during Vietnamese Minister of Education and TrainingPhung Xuan Nha’s visit to the European nation from January 20-26.
In an interview with Vietnam News Agency’s correspondent in the UK, MinisterNha said he signed a MoU with Education Minister of Wales Kirsty Williams on cooperationin training, policy dialogue, and experience sharing in educational managementand research cooperation between Vietnamese educational institutions and thosefrom Wales.
Notably, the Wales administration, through its Global Wales fund, will provide Vietnamwith 20 full scholarships for postgraduate students each year from 2020-2022 topursue study at universities in Wales under the Chevening Scholarships programmeof the UK Government.
Through discussions on educational reform with ministers of many countriesacross the world at the World Education Forum, participants learned and sharedmany experiences, especially in applying information technology in teaching andlearning, Nha said.
Vietnam is on the right track in this field, he stressed, adding that he talkedwith representatives from technology companies at the World EducationTechnology Expo.
Everyone expects that Vietnam will be one of the fast moving countries inapplying this technology in the sector, he said.
According to Nha, Vietnam registered to host the World Education TechnologyExhibition in Ho Chi Minh City in March 2019, which is hoped to draw many educationaltechnology development companies and global educators to Vietnam, especially UKeducational institutions.
Educational technology and English are two important tools to create breakthroughsin improving the quality of education in Vietnam, he said.
Throughthe visit, many big universities, English centres, publishers, companies andlarge corporations providing English-related services such as Cambridge andPearson are very interested in Vietnamese education and want to enter Vietnamto join the National Foreign Language Project of Vietnam in teaching andassessing the quality, Nha noted.
The Minister affirmed that he believes in Vietnam’s training integrationstrategy and the UK will be an important partner in the field.-VNA
