Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador Do Ba Khoa recentlypaid a courtesy call to Brazilian Vice President Hamilton Mourao as part ofactivities to build partnership with Brazil’s new government.
Ambassador Khoa extended congratulations from VietnameseVice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh to Vice President Hamilton Mourao onMourao’s new position.
He briefed his host on Vietnam’s achievements during thereform process as well as new progress in the comprehensive partnership betweenthe two countries, especially in building the legal framework for theircomprehensive partnership, maintaining the efficiency of cooperation mechanismsand promoting mutual support at international organisations, as well as inbilateral trade.
The diplomat suggested the government of Brazil soonrecognise Vietnam’s market economy regulations.
Brazil should work with Vietnam to consider negotiations fora bilateral free trade agreement and a similar deal between Vietnam and theCommon Market of the South (Mercosur), he proposed.
Ambassador Khoa reaffirmed the desire and determination ofVietnamese leaders and the Government to work with the new administration ofBrazil to deepen the partnership between the two countries.
Vietnam hopes to welcome Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaroand Vice President Hamilton Mourao to the country soon, he stated.
For his part, Vice President Hamilton Mourao said as amilitary officer, he admires the Vietnamese people’s struggle for independenceand national reunification.
He and the Brazilian government always keep a close watch onand respects the achievements that Vietnam has gained in national constructionand development as well as regional and international integration.
The Brazilian Vice President expressed his pleasure at stepsdevelopment in bilateral ties, affirming that the government of Brazil will workclosely with Vietnam to strengthen ties, especially in economic and tradeaffiliation.
He also expressed his hope to visit Vietnam in the nearfuture.-VNA
