Vietnam, Taiwan enjoy marked growth in tourism links

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam welcomedmore than 616,000 Taiwanese tourists in 2017, a year-on-year rise of 121.5percent, according to the National Administration of Tourism.

The number is expected to hit 800,000 in2018, Cong Thuong (Industry and Trade) newspaper reported.

Meanwhile, more than 380,000 Vietnamesetourists visited Taiwan (China) in 2017, up 94.94 percent year-on-year.

The Taiwanese tourism sector aims to serve some700,000 Vietnamese holidaymakers in 2018.

The outcomes are attributable to culturalsimilarities shared by the two destinations, diverse landscapes and cooperationbetween travel firms of both sides.

Besides, since amemorandum of understanding on tourism was signed between Vietnam and Taiwan in2012, Taiwan has issued favourable visa policies to the Southeast Asian nation.

Taiwan isfamous for Ali mountain (Alishan), Sun Moon lake, Orchid Island (Lanyu) and theNational Palace Museum, together with its culture and cuisine.-VNA

Search volume for Vietnam’s tourism ranks 7th globally

The top 10 most searched Vietnamese destinations were Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Hoi An, Vung Tau, Da Lat, Phan Thiet, and Hue. Notably, Vung Tau and Ninh Binh recorded the highest growth in search volume with over 75%.
