Vietnam to host ASOSAI 14 in 2018

Vietnam will host the 14th Assembly of the Asian Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) in 2018, become a member of the ASOSAI Governing Board in the 2015-18 tenure, and chair the organisation from 2018-2021.

The information was announced atthe 13th Assembly of the ASOSAI held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, onFebruary 10, with the participation of 180 delegates from auditinstitutions across 40 countries.

Delegatesdiscussed several important reports at the event, including the2012-2014 ASOSAI financial report and the approved 2016-2018 budgets.

They also agreed on measures to tighten cooperationbetween the ASOSAI and the European Organisation of Supreme AuditInstitutions (EUROSAI).

The ASOSAI was founded in1979 as a regional group of the International Organisation of SupremeAudit Courts. It holds meetings every three years to exchange views oncareful and responsible monitoring of public fund spending.

Deputy Auditor General of the State Audit Office of Vietnam Doan XuanTien said that Vietnam was an active participant in the 13th Assembly.The delegation spoke at the 6th symposium on boosting technologicalapplication to raise audit efficiency.

Thedelegation also attended the Supreme Audit Institutions Summit of ASEANmember states (ASEANSAI). The State Audit of Vietnam, as Head of theStrategic Planning Committee of ASEANSAI, gave a report on themonitoring and evaluation systems of the ASEANSAI.

The Supreme Audit Institutions of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia alsodiscussed and determined amendments to their agreement on cooperationand the sharing of information and experience.-VNA
