Vietnam to pilot 7-day quarantine for fully vaccinated travellers

The Ministry of Health (MoH) will pilot 7-day mandatory quarantine for fully vaccinated travellers and those who clinically recovered from COVID-19 and have negative testing results, according to a decision recently issued by the MoH.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Health (MoH) will pilot 7-day mandatoryquarantine for fully vaccinated travellers and those who clinically recoveredfrom COVID-19 and have negative testing results, according to a decisionrecently issued by the MoH.

Thenorthern province of Quang Ninh has been selected as the location for the pilotprogramme which will take place from July 1 – 31.

Thereduced quarantine time, from 21 days to seven days, is applicable to thoseentering Vietnam from abroad with valid certificates of full inoculation withCOVID-19 vaccines approved either by the World Health Organisation (WHO), theUS Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the European MedicinesAgency (EMA), or Vietnamese authorities. The second dose must be administeredno less than 14 days and no more than 12 months prior to entry.

Itwill also apply to people who have proof showing their full recovery fromCOVID-19 issued by the country where they receive treatment. The discharge datefrom hospital must not exceed 12 months prior to entry.

COVID-19vaccination records or recovery certificates must be available in English.

Butin both cases, they will need to have negative lab tests for the virus prior toentry and will be tested on the first day of quarantine (antigen tests) and thesixth day (RT-PCR test). They shall be subject to 7-day home-based quarantineand 14-day follow-up health observation after concentrated quarantine.

Othercases of arrivals will undergo 14-day concentrated quarantine instead of 21days, followed by 14-day health observation.

Peoplewho enter the country for trips lasting less than 14 days are not eligible tothe pilot policy.

TheMinistry of Health also requests all the arrivals to make health declarationsand fill in the registered quarantine facilities and subsequent places forself-quarantine on the Bluezone app (available on both iOS and Android) or onthe website https://tokhaiyte.vn 36 hours prior to planned departure./.
