Vietnam ’s tourism sector is expected to welcome the five-millionth foreign tourist in mid-December this year, according to sources from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT).
The sector received some 420,000 foreign visitors per month in the first 10 months of 2010, representing the country’s highest number of tourist arrivals monthly in the past 20 years.
Travellers mainly came from China , the Republic of Korea , Japan , the US , Australia , France , Thailand , Malaysia , Cambodia and the UK .
VNAT plans to continue conducting tourism promotion programme in the last two months of this year at Vietnam’s most potential tourist markets including ASEAN countries, Japan, China, the US and Europe. The road shows aim to promote Vietnam ’s image as well as seek out tourist cooperation./.
