On July 3, the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced the upcomingdebut of an initiative promoting Vietnamese products across the country.

According to Deputy Minister of Industry and TradeHo Thi Kim Thoa, this year’s annual campaign, titled “Vietnam trademarkweek”, will run from July through October with the aim to strengthen thebond between domestic producers and consumers.

FromJuly 6 to September 22, the campaign will seek and subsequently unveilits ambassador. It will also give details on activities scheduled forthe main week due to take place in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh Cityfrom September 23-29.

The initiative is part of along-running “Vietnamese prioritise Vietnamese goods” programme, underwhich all cities and provinces will build communication channels with a“Proud of Vietnamese goods” slogan by 2020.

Theprogramme has thus far helped locally-made products win consumerfavour. A 2014 survey from the Public Opinion Research Institute showedthat 92 percent of polled participants were interested in the programmeand 63 percent preferred using Vietnamese goods, increasing 4 percentfrom 2010.-VNA

Retail fuel prices were simultaneously reduced from 15:00 on May 14 following the latest adjustment by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) and and the Ministry of Finance, with E5RON92 biofuel recording the sharpest decline.

Da Nang's foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction showed strong growth, reaching 237.7 million USD, double the level recorded a year earlier. The FDI sector remains a key pillar of Vietnam’s economy, with more than 46,500 valid projects and total registered capital exceeding 543 billion USD so far. Disbursed capital has reached around 357.6 billion USD. The FDI sector contributes over 20% of GDP, accounts for around 70% of total export turnover, and creates jobs for millions of workers. Vietnam continues to rank among ASEAN’s leading FDI destinations despite global investment slowdowns.
