Vietnam always attaches importance to developing friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Haiti , especially in trade, agriculture, services, telecommunications and the processing industry for each other’s sustainable development.
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong made the statement while receiving visiting Haitian Prime Minister Laurent Salvador Lamothe in Hanoi on December 17.
Trong spoke highly of the discussion outcomes between Lamothe and the high-ranking Vietnamese leaders, affirming that Vietnam treasures the development of friendship and cooperation with Latin American countries.
Lamothe pledged to further deepen ties between the two countries in a more practical and effective manner. He expressed his wish to share national management knowledge with Vietnam and strengthen bilateral ties in many fields, especially food security.
He affirmed that Haiti will open an embassy in Hanoi to boost ties with Vietnam in the time to come.
At a meeting with National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung the same day, Lamothe vowed to develop cooperation with Vietnam in food security, telecommunications, trade, culture and education.
Hung said the meeting results between Lamothe and his Vietnamese counterpart will help lift bilateral ties to a new height and create opportunities for the two peoples to strengthen mutual understanding.
He suggested the two parliaments promote cooperation and exchanges to enhance the Vietnam-Haiti friendship, adding that the two countries should work together in all aspects for peace and development in the world.-VNA
