Hanoi (VNA) – A delegation of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) led by its President Nguyen Quang Thuan recently paid a working trip to Turkey to foster scientific cooperation with its leading research organisations.
The delegation held working sessions with President of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TUBA) Ahmet Cevat Acar, Chairman of the Turkish Foreign Ministry’s Centre for Strategic Research Ufuk Ulutas, and Rector of Bahcesehir University Senay Yalcin.
During the meetings, Thuan spoke highly of the development of bilateral ties in recent years, especially the Vietnam visit by Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim in August 2017.
He stressed that there remains room for bilateral coordination, and suggested increasing all-level visits, including those between the two countries’ research organisations.
The Turkish side underscored the importance of bilateral scientific collaboration and wished that Vietnam and the VASS in particular would continue enhancing exchange scientists’ visits with Turkey.
Both sides also discussed regional and global issues of shared concern.
On the occasion, the VASS signed a scientific exchange cooperation agreement with the TUBA, marking the start of the partnership between the two leading research institutions of Vietnam and Turkey.
During a working session with the delegation, Vietnamese Ambassador to Turkey Pham Anh Tuan affirmed that the embassy always stands ready to serve as a bridge linking the two countries together in science.
He expressed wish that VASS, TUBA and other Turkish research institutes will continue promoting practical and effective ties.-VNA
