Vietnam, Turkey foster scientific cooperation

Hanoi (VNA) – A delegation of the Vietnam Academyof Social Sciences (VASS) led by its President Nguyen Quang Thuan recently paida working trip to Turkey to foster scientific cooperation with its leadingresearch organisations.

The delegation held working sessions with President of theTurkish Academy of Sciences (TUBA) Ahmet Cevat Acar, Chairman of the TurkishForeign Ministry’s Centre for Strategic Research Ufuk Ulutas, and Rector of BahcesehirUniversity Senay Yalcin.

During the meetings, Thuan spoke highly of the developmentof bilateral ties in recent years, especially the Vietnam visit by TurkishPrime Minister Binali Yildirim in August 2017.

He stressed that there remains room for bilateralcoordination, and suggested increasing all-level visits, including thosebetween the two countries’ research organisations.

The Turkish side underscored the importance of bilateralscientific collaboration and wished that Vietnam and the VASS in particularwould continue enhancing exchange scientists’ visits with Turkey.

Both sides also discussed regional and global issues ofshared concern.

On the occasion, the VASS signed a scientific exchangecooperation agreement with the TUBA, marking the start of the partnershipbetween the two leading research institutions of Vietnam and Turkey.

During a working session with the delegation, VietnameseAmbassador to Turkey Pham Anh Tuan affirmed that the embassy always standsready to serve as a bridge linking the two countries together in science.

He expressed wish that VASS, TUBA and other Turkish researchinstitutes will continue promoting practical and effective ties.-VNA
