Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Numan Kurtulmuş affirmed that Türkiye considers Vietnam an important partner in Southeast Asia, emphasising that similarities in historical depth, cultural identity, foreign policy orientations and family values provide a strong foundation for elevating bilateral ties to a new level.
Regarding bilateral engagements in Italy and Türkiye, the deputy minister said the trips marked a meaningful step in implementing Vietnam’s foreign policy following the 14th National Party Congress, helping deepen relations with European and Middle Eastern partners while mobilising external resources for national development.
NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his hope that the Vietnamese in Türkiye will remain united, support each other, build an increasingly strong community, integrate well, abide by the laws of the host country, and maintain a positive image of the Vietnamese people.
The Vietnamese leader acknowledged and highly valued Tezolmez’s active contributions to the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Türkiye, particularly in Istanbul - an important economic, commercial, and international exchange hub.
The top Vietnamese legislator expressed his admiration for Türkiye’s cultural identity and its friendly, hospitable people, while highly valuing the European country’s growing role and position at multilateral forums and in regional mediation efforts. He affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to strengthening ties with Türkiye.
Both sides agreed to further deepen political ties, increase delegation exchanges, especially among parliamentary leaders, and enhance the sharing of legislative experiences.
The two sides also consented to continue close coordination at multilateral parliamentary forums, particularly the IPU, promoting the role of legislatures in advancing multilateralism and respect for international law, and contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development regionally and globally.
Vietnam’s National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasised that economic, trade, and investment ties should serve as key pillars of the relationship. They agreed to create favourable conditions to raise bilateral trade turnover to 4 billion USD, while continuing to encourage Turkish enterprises to invest in Vietnam and contribute to its economic development.
Türkiye is one of Vietnam’s key partners in the region, serving as a strategic bridge between Asia and Europe. Conversely, Vietnam, with its dynamic and fast-growing economy, is an important gateway for Türkiye to access Southeast Asian and Asia-Pacific markets. These complementary advantages provide a solid foundation for the two countries to further deepen their cooperation in the coming period.
The IPU-152 carries the theme “Nurturing hope, securing peace and ensuring justice for future generations”. NA Chairman Man is scheduled to deliver a keynote address outlining Vietnam’s perspectives on global and regional issues, while putting forward concrete solutions to foster inter-parliamentary cooperation, contributing to maintaining peace, stability while driving sustainable and prosperous development worldwide.
With a large Muslim population, Türkiye serves as both a major consumer market and a well-developed processing hub for such products. Meanwhile, Vietnam is gradually establishing its capacity to supply Halal goods, particularly in processed foods, agricultural produce, beverages, tourism services and logistics.
The upcoming participation of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his spouse in the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-152) in Istanbul, along with several bilateral activities in Türkiye, highlights Vietnam’s priorities in both multilateral and bilateral diplomacy, a Vietnamese diplomat said.
Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Tran Thanh Man, his spouse, and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation departed from Hanoi on early April 11 morning to attend the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-152) in Istanbul and conduct a number of bilateral activities in Türkiye, and pay an official visit to Italy from April 11-17.
The Vietnamese NA has consistently played a proactive and leading role in IPU cooperation. It has actively put forward and championed multiple initiatives, delivering substantive contributions to IPU activities. It stands ready to collaborate with fellow member parliaments and the IPU to follow resolutions and initiatves aimed at preserving peace and promoting sustainable development for the benefit of all nations, said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Hoang Giang.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Türkiye Dang Thi Thu Ha said the programme marked the first time the Embassy had brought the Tet celebration to Istanbul, home to the majority of Vietnamese nationals in the country.

Over the past time, Vietnam and Türkiye have worked to bolster their defence industry partnership, with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the area signed in July, serving as a framework to enhance cooperation in line with each country’s needs and capacities.
Türkiye is both a major consumer market and a regional Halal processing hub, while Vietnam is emerging as a reliable supplier of Halal-certified goods, particularly in processed food, agriculture, beverages, tourism and logistics.
The Turkish leader perceived that both countries are now in a favourable position to elevate their relations to a new height.
Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Berris Ekinci affirmed Turkey’s desire to deepen cooperation with Vietnam, noting that since establishing diplomatic ties in 1978, the two countries have maintained effective collaboration in trade, investment, defence industry, culture, and tourism.
Vietnam and Türkiye should step up delegation exchanges, particularly at the high level and among ministries, sectors, and localities, while further promoting economic, investment, and trade cooperation in areas where they have strengths and can complement each other, said State President Luong Cuong.
Vietnam-Türkiye diplomatic relations, established in 1978, have seen steady growth in defence cooperation through high-level exchanges and agreements, setting the stage for more substantive collaboration moving forward.
Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien has affirmed Vietnam's readiness to facilitate the early establishment of Turkey’s defence attaché office in Vietnam, during his meeting with Turkish Minister of National Defence Yasar Guler.
