Hanoi (VNA) – Leaders of the Military Hospital 175 under the Ministry of Defence and the US Embassy in Vietnam on December 2 held a working session to discuss issues related to military medical cooperation, reported Quan Doi Nhan Dan (People’s Army) newspaper.

At the function, the two sides also exchanged views on the preparations for setting up a level-2 field hospital as part of Vietnam’s participation in UN peacekeeping missions.

Apart from reviewing the partnership in humanitarian aid and disaster preparedness, the two sides examined joint efforts in improving efficiency of sea-island medical activities and professional cooperation between the Vietnamese hospital and US partners.

The two sides pledged to do the best in their capacity to fulfil the requirements on personnel and capacity for the deployment of the level-2 field hospital to serve the UN peacekeeping forces.

Vietnam has dispatched seven officers to join UN peacekeeping forces in South Sudan and Central Africa.

Aside from the level-2 field hospital, the country is preparing to deploy a company of engineers to engage in peacekeeping missions when required.-VNA
