Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam and Venezuela are effectively implementing cooperation projects in the field of agriculture, said Venezuelan Ambassador to Vietnam Jorge Rondon Uzcategui at a press conference in Hanoi on January 10.
The diplomat said apart from partnerships in oil and gas, the two countries are actively carrying out projects to develop rice cultivation and aquaculture.
According to Uzcategui, thanks to the assistance of Vietnamese experts, Venezuela has developed nearly 40 rice varieties with high yield.
Venezuelan farmers have succeeded in cultivating three crops a year and ensuring food security, he said.
The country’s shrimp output in the previous year increased by 60 percent thanks to Vietnam’s technical support, he added.
He stressed that for the 2019-2025 tenure, the Venezuelan Government will actively promote policies to attract foreign investment.
Venezuela wants to expand cooperation projects with Vietnamese investors, he said, suggesting the two countries work together in the garment-textile field in the future.
Regarding activities to support Vietnamese Agent Orange/dioxin victims, the ambassador said the Venezuelan Embassy in Hanoi will continue accompanying the country in the fight for justice for the AO victims, as well as in humanitarian activities to support them. –VNA
