Hanoi (VNA) –
Vietnam and Venezuelaare effectively implementing cooperation projects in the field of agriculture,said Venezuelan Ambassador to Vietnam Jorge Rondon Uzcategui at a pressconference in Hanoi on January 10.

The diplomat said apart from partnerships in oiland gas, the two countries are actively carrying out projects to develop ricecultivation and aquaculture.

According to Uzcategui, thanks to the assistanceof Vietnamese experts, Venezuela has developed nearly 40 rice varieties withhigh yield. 

Venezuelan farmers have succeeded in cultivatingthree crops a year and ensuring food security, he said.

The country’s shrimp output in the previous yearincreased by 60 percent thanks to Vietnam’s technical support, he added.

He stressed that for the 2019-2025 tenure, theVenezuelan Government will actively promote policies to attract foreigninvestment.

Venezuela wants to expand cooperation projects withVietnamese investors, he said, suggesting the two countries work together inthe garment-textile field in the future.

Regarding activities to support Vietnamese AgentOrange/dioxin victims, the ambassador said the Venezuelan Embassy in Hanoi willcontinue accompanying the country in the fight for justice for the AO victims,as well as in humanitarian activities to support them. –VNA
