Vietnam has carried out a national, five-year programme to prevent and control crime and attained good results, the official added.

Regarding international cooperation in the fight against criminals, the official said that Vietnam has signed treaties in the field and will sign more, and that it will strengthen international cooperation in the framework of Interpol and ASEANAPOL as well as with countries in the form of mutual judicial support.

At the conference, more than 1,600 delegates from countries and international organisations including high-ranking officials assessed the issue and shared experiences in combating criminals of all kinds across the globe.

In addition, the delegates agreed to beef up international cooperation in the prevention and control of trans-boundary and cyber crimes, human trafficking, child abuse and illegal trade in cultural articles./.
