Cooperation between Vietnam and Wallonie-Brussels region have reaped fruitful achievements in many sectors, proving that financial limits are not the obstacles for the development of bilateral ties.
Head of the Wallonie-Brussels delegation Franck Pezza has told Vietnam News Agency’s reporter on the occasion of the establishment of the Belgium’s French speaking community in Wallonie and Brussels (Sept. 27).
Within the 2010-2010 period, total budget for over Wallonie-Brussels-funded 30 projects within the framework of Association for the Promotion of Education and Training Abroad to Vietnam reaches 4 million EUR, he said.
Projects which the region have implemented in Vietnam are suitable for the demand of the Southeast Asian country. They include those on tertiary and post-graduate training, heritage preservation and scientific research.
According to the delegation head, tertiary education and research activities are top priorities in the cooperation programme of the two sides between 2010-2012.
The region shared the Vietnam government’s concern about education and training by supporting the training of lecturers holding master and doctorate degrees together with doing research.
Besides, to uphold its experiences and resources, Wallonie-Brusels has worked closely with the Federal administration to make its education and training projects being connected and suitable to national cooperation programmes, Pezza said.
Expressing his good impression on Vietnam ’s land and people after two years living in the country, Pezza also recognised economic achievements the Southeast Asian country has made in recent years.
In 1993, the Belgium ’s French speaking community signed the first cooperation agreement with Vietnam and set up its representative office in Hanoi in 1996. In 2002, the cooperation was expanded with the participation of Wallonie region and French Community Committee of the capital city of Brussels ./.
