Vietnamese Ambassador to Argentina Nguyen Dinh Thao presented his credentials to Argentinean Vice President and Speaker of the Senate Amado Boudou in the capital city of Buenos Aires on March 18.

At the ceremony, Thao highlighted the development of cooperation between the two sides since the establishment of their diplomatic ties, especially through high-ranking visits - such as the arrival of the Argentinean President Cristina Fernandez last year. He said this has helped boost two-way trade.

For his part, Vice President Boudou asserted that the president and people of Ar gentina admire the Vietnamese people and will create favourable conditions for the new ambassador to fulfill his duties.

The same day, Thao laid a wreath at the statue of Argentinean national hero San Martin in Buenos Aires. He also offered flowers at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh at the Vietnam Park in the capital city.

Since establishing diplomatic ties in 1973, the two countries have seen significant development in their relations, especially in trade.

Two-way trade saw a nearly eight-fold surge from 204 million USD in 2004 to the recorded level of 1.59 billion USD last year.
