Vietnamese businesses in Japan contribute to bilateral relations

The number of Vietnamese businesses in Japan has been on the rise, and many of them have been listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, Yoichiro Aoyagi, member of the Japanese House of Representatives, said at the Vietnam-Japan Business Day in Tokyo on November 2.

Tokyo (VNA) - Thenumber of Vietnamese businesses in Japan has been on the rise, and many of them havebeen listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, Yoichiro Aoyagi, member of the Japanese House of Representatives, said at the Vietnam-Japan BusinessDay in Tokyo on November 2.

The event was part of exchangeand cooperation activities between the two countries to celebrate the 50thfounding anniversary of the diplomatic relations, and mark the 10-yeardevelopment milestone of the Vietnam Business Association in Japan (VJBA) in Japan.

Yoichiro said the VJBA’s robust development is a vivid testament to the cooperation between Vietnam and Japan over the past decade.

Addressing the event, VJBA President Tong KimGiao highlighted the association’s practical contributions to the Vietnam-Japan friendshipand cooperation, saying that the event marked the sustainable development ofthe Vietnamese community in Japan, where the Vietnamese business community hascontinuously worked hard to achieve successes today.

Vietnamese Ambassadorto Japan Pham Quang Hieu expressed his hope that the Vietnamese business/entrepreneurcommunity abroad in general and in Japan in particular will make morecontributions to the economic development of both countries, as well as the developmentof the Vietnamese community in Japan.

According to the diplomat, businesses andentrepreneurs are increasingly asserting their significance and role in Vietnam’seconomic development. Vietnam is home to nearly 900,000 operatingbusinesses, contributing more than 60% of the nationalGDP.

Peter Hong, Vice Chairman and Secretary-Generalof the Business Association of OverseasVietnamese (BAOOV) stressed that the VJBAshould play an even more significant role in enhancing connectivity among businessesand between enterprises and the community.

BAOOV is willing to work as a bridge between the Vietnamesebusiness community in Japan with overseas Vietnamese entrepreneurs in othercountries around the world, he said.

On the occasion, the VJBA signed a number of cooperation agreements with partners.

Established in September 2013, the VJBA is anon-profit organisation representing Vietnamese businesses in Japan andconnecting Vietnamese and Japanese firms./.
