Officials of the southern province of Dong Thap and Cambodia’s northwest province of Banteay Meanchey met in Dong Thap on September 7 to review cooperation between the two localities in the 2011-2013 period.
The two provinces have worked together to boost trade and tourism activities as well as facilitate investment activities by each other’s businesses.
Agriculture is a focus in their partnership, with Dong Thap enterprises encouraged to invest in the Cambodian province in this field.
In 2012, Banteay Meanchey allowed some Dong Thap-based businesses to rent 80 ha of land for farming.
During the flood season in 2013, Dong Thap provided more than 8 tonnes of rice seed for the Cambodian province to help farmers there overcome the consequences of flooding.
The two provinces also held numerous cultural and artistic exchanges to increase mutual understanding and friendship of their people.-VNA
