Vietnamese communities in Laos and Thailand celebrate Lunar New Year On January 11, Vietnamese people from across Thailand gathered in Bangkok for “Homeland Spring – Lunar New Year 2025”. The event, organised by the Thai-Vietnamese Association of Bangkok and the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand, brought together a vibrant community eager to welcome the new year. In his opening remarks, Ambassador Pham Viet Hung warmly welcomed attendees and highlighted the continued strength of the Vietnam-Thailand Enhanced Strategic Partnership. He noted that cooperation between the two nations, from government and parliament to local communities, is deepening—paving the way for an upgrade to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the near future. The ambassador expressed pride in the Vietnamese community in Thailand, recognising their successful integration and contributions to local society. Many have built prosperous lives and earned respect in their communities, strengthening ties between Vietnam and Thailand. On January 13, the General Association of Vietnamese in Laos hosted its first Community Lunar New Year celebration in Vientiane. Speaking at the event, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam reaffirmed that overseas Vietnamese remain an integral part of the nation. He praised the Vietnamese community in Laos for their unity and contributions to Lao society, emphasizing their role in fostering the enduring friendship between the two countries. Many Vietnamese expatriates in Laos have achieved success in various fields, not only contributing to the country’s economic growth but also strengthening cultural ties.
