Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s Embassy in the Republic of Korea (RoK) on January 23 held a traditional New Year celebration for Vietnamese people in the RoK.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Pham Huu Chi highlighted the development of Vietnam-RoK relations in the past year and lauded the Vietnamese community’s contributions.

According to Ambassador Chi, Vietnamese associations in the RoK organised many positive activities to help people back home.

On the run-up to the New Year, Ambassador Chi wished Vietnamese people in the RoK a New Year full of health and success and urged them to help develop Vietnam and the RoK.

Representatives from the Ly Hoa Son and Ly Tinh Thien families, descendants of ​Prince Ly Long Tuong who immigrated to the RoK from Vietnam in the 13th century, also attended the event, saying they will educate younger generations about their origins.

On January 22, Vietnam’s Embassy in Belgium and Luxembourg organised a community Tet event for Vietnamese there.

Vietnam’s Ambassador to Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Vuong Thua Phong said that 2016 witnessed many important events in Vietnam and marked 30 years since the country embarked on the Doi Moi (Renewal) process.

He affirmed 2017 is a landmark in Vietnam-European Union relations in general and Belgium in particular, marking the 40th anniversary of economic cooperation between Vietnam and Belgium.-VNA
