The Vietnamese community abroad has donated more than 3 billion VND (130,264 USD) to the National COVID-19 Vaccine Fund and pandemic prevention and control activities at home.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese community abroad has donated more than 3 billion VND (130,264 USD) to the National COVID-19 Vaccine Fund and pandemic prevention and control activities at home.

Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Quang Hieu, Chairman of the State Committee on Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, along with the ambassadors to Canada, the Netherlands, Thailand and Consul Generals in Fukuoka (Japan) and San Francisco (the US) on behalf of the community handed over the aid to President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Do Van Chien during a ceremony on December 15.

The donation is part of the community's activities to respond to the call of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong as well as the Party, State and VFF to support COVID-19 fight at home.

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy FM Pham Quang Hieu said that the assistance shows the solidarity tradition and the patriotism as well as mutual support of OVs to people at home.

For his part, President of the VFF Central Committee Do Van Chien thanked the Vietnamese community abroad for the support, which contributes to the effective control of the pandemic in the country.

He pledged that the VFF will use the aid in an efficient manner to the right people. He said he believes that with joint efforts and solidarity of the Vietnamese community abroad, Vietnam will overcome difficulties to secure prosperity and happiness./.

Breeding cows presented to poor households along Vietnam–Cambodia border
