Vice Chairman of the Hue municipal People's Committee Nguyen Chi Tai thanked Ho Chi Minh City for its timely support and pledged to allocate the funds efficiently and transparently to families most affected by the disaster. The NA leader called on the VFF Committee of Can Tho to innovate its operations, stay close to the people, and enhance mobilisation efforts to care for policy beneficiaries, those who rendered service to the nation, and low-income households.
Hoai had served as Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee since July 2024 before being assigned as Secretary of the Party Committee of the VFF and Central Mass Organisations.
Party General Secretary To Lam attended a ceremony in Hanoi on November 4 announcing the Politburo’s decision appointing President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Do Van Chien as Standing Vice Secretary of the National Assembly (NA)’s Party Committee for the 2020-2025 tenure.
As of 16:00 on October 29, agencies, businesses, organisations, and individuals both domestically and abroad had pledged over 1.1 trillion VND in donations through its accounts, according to the Central Relief Committee under the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee.
Total donations from the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic have so far reached 5.4 billion VND, including 1.5 billion VND sent in the first phase. The remaining amount will soon be transferred to the VFF Central Committee for distribution to affected areas.
A campaign, held by the Vietnamese Association in Macau (China) from October 8 to 20, raised 160 million VND (6,000 USD) for disaster-hit communities in Vietnam.
Chien affirmed that all the donations received by the Central Relief Board will be promptly and properly allocated to the right localities to help residents rebuild their lives as soon as possible.
To date, donations to Cao Bang have reached over 63 billion VND (nearly 2.4 million USD), along with 500 tonnes of rice and a wide range of essential goods, including food, medicine and daily necessities for disaster-affected residents.
With the joint efforts of society and the support of international friends, including the National Council of the Solidarity Front for the Development of Cambodia Motherland (SFDCM), Vietnam will soon overcome the consequences of the disasters, restore stability, and continue socio-economic development.
Child care, protection and education remain top priorities in Vietnam’s development policy,” Tuyen affirmed, recalling that Vietnam ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1990 and adopted two optional protocols in 2000. She also emphasised the country’s legislative and policy framework to safeguard children’s rights.
