Phu Yen (VNA) - The Vietnamese community in the US has presented 300 million VND (nearly 13,000 USD) in cash and more than 108,370 water purification packets to flood victims in the south-central coastal province of Phu Yen, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Vietnamese representative offices and communities abroad have offered aid relief in cash and kind to help residents in the country’s central region overcome the consequences of natural calamities.

Receiving the aid, President of the Red Cross Society of Phu Yen Huynh Tan Tinh vowed to promptly distribute it to people in need.

The province was thrown into disarray this year by drought, forest fires, storms, and floods. It lost more than 550 billion VND to severe flooding caused by Molave and Etau - the ninth and 12th storms hitting the East Sea this year./.
