Hanoi (VNA) - Nguyen Thi That will be key to Vietnamese hopes at the coming Asian Cycling Championships in Japan.

The cyclist, whose strength is sprinting, is expected to enter the top three in the women's event.

That, who won a silver medal at the Asian Games in 2014 in the Republic of Korea, will be assisted by national rising star Phan Thi Lieu.

Young athlete Pham Le Xuan Hong is the only Vietnamese female in the junior event.

The men's side will see Nguyen Thanh Tam, Trinh Duc Tam and Nguyen Truong Tai competing in the professional event.

Huynh Thanh Tung and Phan Hoang Thai represent in Vietnam's U23s.

Tran Duc Tien will compete in the junior category.

All Vietnamese are to compete in the road race events on January 19-24.-VNA
