Vientiane (VNA) – Vietnamese medical staff and volunteers offered free health check-ups and medicines to 350 war veterans and poor families in Saythani district, Vientiane, Laos on December 17.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Doctors and Friends Club and Human Resources Director of Hung Viet cancer hospital Nguyen Duc Van said Sabaidee Vientiane 2016 is a charity programme that aims to partly share the suffering of Lao ex-revolutionaries during the struggle for national liberation.
He hoped that the programme will take place in Laos annually.
Chairman of the Lao War Veterans’ Association, Maj. Gen Somphon Keomixay, for his part, hailed the activity as a deed of repaying war veterans for their services to the nation and a vivid manifestation of the special friendship between Laos and Vietnam.
He also pledged to do his best to educate young generations about the bilateral everlasting friendship./.
