Cairo (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt and Lebanon on August 8 advised the Vietnamese citizens in Lebanon to leave the country as soon as possible due to the deteriorating security situation in the region, particularly the escalating tensions between Israel and the force of Hezbollah.
In its urgent announcement, the embassy recommended citizens in Vietnam not travel to Lebanon at this time. Those residing in Lebanon should not go to the Israel - Lebanon border areas or the south of Lebanon’s Beirut capital, but should leave this country as soon as possible when airports and commercial flights are still available.
The Vietnamese citizens are advised to keep a close watch on and keep themselves updated on the situation through international and local media. In case they could not depart, they should find safe shelters, and stock up on food and medicine.
Since the tension between Israel and Hezbollah broke out in October 2023, the embassy has maintained close contact with the Vietnamese citizens in Lebanon, and learnt that their life has not been impacted yet. There are 11 Vietnamese nationals living and studying there, mostly in Beirut and regions in the vicinity.
It is keeping close tabs on the situation and maintaining contact with the citizens to prepare for emergencies, while standing ready to work with competent sides in case of evacuation and citizen protection.
For assistance, the citizens should contact the embassy via hotline 20 102 613 9869 or the Honorary Consulate of Vietnam in Lebanon at 961 70 229 300./.
