Moscow (VNA) – The Vietnamese community inRussia’s football championship was launched in Moscow on August 10 with theparticipation of 125 players in five teams.

At the opening ceremony, Tran Phu Thuan, Vice Chairman ofthe Association of Vietnamese in Russia and head of the organising board, saidthe championship takes place in the context of Russia’s successful organisationof the FIFA World Cup 2018.

The Vietnamese community wants to share the cheerfulatmosphere with the host nation, he said, adding that the annual footballchampionship and other sport activities have become a good tradition tostrengthen solidarity in the community.

After the ceremony, the AFC Moscow and FC Song Lam Nghe Anteams kicked off the first match.

The entire championship lasts for about two weeks, with thefinal match slated for August 24.-VNA
