High-ranking officers of the Vietnamese and Filipino armies have agreed to enhance cooperation between their navies, maritime police, air and ground forces in a move to push forward defence ties between the two nations.

This is the result of a meeting between Vice Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnamese People’s Army, Lieut. Gen. Vo Van Tuan and Commander of the Filipino Special Operations Command, Maj. Gen John S Bonafos in Hanoi on October 9.

Both sides noted with pleasure that regular high-level meetings and consultations between the two defence ministries, and cooperative activities between the two naval forces and maritime police have helped foster bilateral friendship and mutual trust and understanding.

They vowed to hold more exchanges of delegations and officers in the time ahead.-VNA
