Vietnamese firms exhibit at Boston Seafood fair

Twenty six Vietnamese companies spotlighted their products at the Boston International Seafood Show, in the US state of Massachusetts from Mar. 10-13.

The fair attracted nearly 1,000 enterprises from over 120 countries and territories across the globe.

According to the Deputy President of Vietnam ’s Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) Association, Nguyen Huu Dung, this was the 14th time that Vietnamese enterprises have exhibited at a seafood fair in the US .

The event provided Vietnamese enterprises with the opportunity to meet new potential importers and partners from across the US .

The Vietnamese companies acknowledged that they have to improve the quality of their workforce and processing operations as well as law knowledge so they can avoid anti-dumping tariffs imposed by the US Department of Commerce.

On the sidelines of the exhibition, the Vietnamese Embassy’s commercial office held a seminar for the Vietnamese participants to learn about US laws and regulations, including anti-dumping mechanisms and ways of promoting their exports with several US leading legal consultancy firms.

Vietnam now ranks 6 th in seafood exporters to the US , recording an export turnover of more than 1 billion USD in 2011.

The US is now Vietnam ’s second largest importer of seafood after the EU and is expected to become the biggest in the near future.-VNA
