Vietnamese, German districts to set up fraternal ties

Hoan Kiem district of Hanoi and Lichtenberg of Berlin signed a document on preparations for the two localities to become sister towns in Berlin on Nov. 17.

Signatories were Hoang Cong Khoi, Secretary of Hoan Kiem Party Committee and Christina Emmrich, Governor of Lichtenberg.

Under the signed agreement, the two sides will exchange information and experiences in urban planning and development, protection of environment and the nature, real estate management, and development of local business areas between 2010-2012.

The two sides also agreed to support ties between Lichtenberg’s Alexander Puschkin school and Hoan Kiem’s Vietnam-Germany Senior High School .

Addressing the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Do Hoa Binh expressed thanks to the Lichtenberg’s governor for helping about 4,000 Vietnamese people living in the district.

While in Berlin until Nov. 21, Khoi and the delegation of Hoan Kiem district will attend seminars on the fields that the two sides plan to cooperate./.
