The Indian delegation to the event was directed by BrigadierGeneral Jai Singh Bainsla, Commander of the UN peacekeeping mission for SectorSouth, and Colonel Rishi Raj, Director of India’s Level-2 Field Hospital. Meanwhile,the Vietnamese delegation was headed by Colonel Nguyen Ba Hung,Commander of the Vietnamese peacekeeping force in South Sudan, and LieutenantColonel Trinh My Hoa, Director of Vietnam’s Level-2 Field Hospital No. 3.
During the training course, the two sides exchanged experience inresponding to the pandemic as well as treating COVID-19 patients. In addition,Indian doctors shared their understanding about the SARS-CoV-2 Delta variant,which has emerged in India and spread rapidly across the globe.
The military medical staff also exchanged experience in COVID-19vaccination, as Vietnam’s Level-2 Field Hospital No. 3 will be in charge ofvaccinating 500 UN staff members in Bentiu.
At the event, members of Vietnam’s Aero-medical EvacuationTeam (AMET) shared that they have successfully built and effectively operated a process for transporting severe COVID-19 patients by helicopter based on aprocess of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Addressing the event, Colonel Nguyen Ba Hungspoke highly of the programme, saying the success of the event will contributeto enhancing cooperation between the two hospitals and improving the staff’sprofessionalism and their treatment skills.
Hung expressed his hope that the two sides will continue to holdsimilar activities in the time to come.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Trinh My Hoa said that thetraining course paves the way for the two sides to expand their cooperation activities andjoint projects in the future./.
