Vietnamese, Lao government offices bolster cooperation

Vientiane (VNA) – The VietnameseGovernment Office and the Lao Prime Minister Office held a workshop in LuangPrabang province in northern Laos on March 27 to enhance their staff’sprofessional skills.

The event, the fourth of its kind, aims toimplement the collaboration plan between the two countries’ government officesfor the 2016-2017 period, Minister and Chairman of the Vietnamese GovernmentOffice Mai Tien Dung said.

The workshop is ameaningful activity to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the signing of theVietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation and the 55th founding anniversaryof diplomatic ties, he said.

Minister-Chairman of the Lao Prime MinisterOffice Pheth Phomphiphak thanked the Vietnamese Government Office forsupporting its Lao counterpart over the past few years, saying the workshopwill bring valuable experience for the two offices’ officials.

The two sides exchanged experience in building workingplans and organizing meetings for the Government, as well as in drafting andrevising laws and regulations. They also compared notes on how to supervise theimplementation of the tasks assigned by the Government and the Prime Minister to ministries, agencies, provincial People’s Committees, and organizations.

The handling of petitions and proposalssubmitted by businesses was also on the agenda.

Earlier the same day,Minister-Chairman of the Vietnamese Government Office Mai Tien Dung had ameeting with Minister-Chairman of the Lao Prime Minister Office PhethPhomphiphak. -VNA
