Vietnamese monks, nuns in Laos support local COVID-19 fight

Venerable Thich Minh Quang, head monk of the Phat Tich Pagoda in Vientiane, has handed over to the Lao Front for National Construction 25 million LAK worth of essential goods (about over 50 million VND) to help people who are being severely affected during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially those who are staying in quarantine.

Vientiane (VNA) -Venerable Thich Minh Quang, head monk of the Phat Tich Pagoda in Vientiane, has handed over to the Lao Front for National Construction 25million LAK worth of essential goods (about over 50 million VND) to help people who are being severely affected during theCOVID-19 pandemic, especially those who are staying in quarantine.

The goods are donated by Vietnamese monks, nuns and Buddhist followers in Vientiane. 

At the hand-over ceremony on October 1, the Venerable, who is also head of the coordinating board of Buddhism in Laos, said the donors hope the goods would helpalleviate some of the difficulties for Lao people.

Khamchan Phomxengsavan - Standing Vice President of the Lao Front forNational Construction highly appreciated the contribution of the Vietnamese monks, nunsand Buddhist followers in Laos, which she said showed the bond and concern of the Vietnamese community in Laos for the host country, especially in difficult times./.

Education-training sector preparing for strategic turning point: Minister

Ho Chi Minh City steps up law enforcement on fishing vessel monitoring system

Ho Chi Minh City has 4,449 fishing vessels, of them 4,301 equipped with VMS devices, making up 96.67%. Between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2025, authorities found 1,729 cases of vessels losing VMS connection for six hours or more, issuing fines in 196 cases totalling nearly 6.6 billion VND (about 252,000 USD)
