Hanoi (VNA) – Hai Phuong (Furie) starring Ngo Thanh Van will be the first Vietnamese movie to be screened in Vietnam and the US at the same time.

According, the film will hit the US screens on March 1 after its premiere in Vietnam on February 22 with English sub-titles.

Furie, directed by Le Van Kiet, tells the story of a woman from the Mekong Delta whose daughter has been kidnapped. She embarks on a journey to find her against all odds and the bad guys.

Ngo Thanh Van, also known as Veronica Ngo who starred in and produced the film, said she has made continuous efforts to introduce Vietnamese cinema to the world.

Van is known for her roles in The Rebel, Clash and The Tailor. She also participated in Rouge, a television series produced by MTV Asia and MediaCorp Singapore, the Hollywood film The Last Jedi and Netflix film Bright.

Furie is likely to be Van’s last action film. At the age of 40, Van said she is tired of action scenes and wants to give a chance for younger actors to shine.

The movie will also compete for the Grand Prix and Most Promising Talent Award in the Osaka Asian Film Festival next month.-VNA
