Hanoi (VNA) – Secretary General of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) and head of its Office Bui Van Cuong held talks with Secretary General of the Senate of Cambodia Oum Sarith in Hanoi on April 4.

Cuong affirmed that the Cambodian delegation’s visit shows the partnership between the two advisory bodies of the Vietnamese NA and the Cambodian Senate, and demonstrates the good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

This is also the first activity to realise the two agencies’ cooperation agreement and follow directions of Vietnamese NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and Cambodian Senate President Say Chhum during their talks on November 19, 2022 in Phnom Penh on strengthening cooperation and information and experience sharing between agencies serving the NA and the Senate.

The Vietnamese NA Office is willing to continue providing personnel training following the needs of the Cambodian Parliament and in accordance with actual conditions, he added.

Oum Sarith expressed his hope that the two sides will continue cooperating and supporting each other at multilateral inter-parliamentary forums, and step up delegation exchanges and experience sharing.

The two officials discussed and agreed on focuses of cooperation in the coming time to substantively carry out their offices’ memorandum of understanding on cooperation.

They pledged to remain close coordination to serve visits and meetings, and bilateral and multilateral activities of the two legislative bodies.

The two offices will also work closely with each other to provide advice for the legislatures in supervising and urging the two countries’ ministries, sectors, localities and businesses to effectively implement signed cooperation agreements and mechanisms./.
