Principal of the HueUniversity of Medicine and Pharmacy Cao Ngoc Thanh said the ties betweenthe two universities dated back to 2006 with cooperation in providingcharity cleft-palate surgeries for Vietnamese children.
To date, more than 300 children from northern central localities havereceived free operations and treatment as a result of the cooperation.
In 2009, the two sides also signed a memorandum of understanding on personnel training.
Moving forward, the RoK university will help the Vietnamese sidebuild a speech and language therapy centre for cleft-palate childrenwith investment capital sourced from the Korea International CooperationAgency (KOICA).
On the occasion, the HueUniversity of Medicine and Pharmacy presented the Health Ministry’sinsignia “For People’s Health” to Professor Shin Hyu-Geun, Head of theDepartment of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the GraduateSchool of Dentistry under the Chonbuk National University.-VNA
